It's the holiday season and you know what that means . . . PARTIES! As the flurry of invitations start to arrive, you're going to have to start thinking about unique hostess gift ideas. But let's be creative people, it is, after all, a PARTY, so make it fun!

PRE-PARTY GIFTS
Sometimes it's nice to arrange to have your gift arrive before the party so that it can be used at the party (and it also saves you from having to lug a gift to the event while you're in all your holiday finery!).
Charmed, I'm Sure
It's always been my impression that if you give a gift that can be consumed, once it's gone, so is the thought you gave it! So why not mix a "consumable" with something your host or hostess can use again.
If you're attending a holiday cocktail party, why not send a favorite bottle of wine to arrive a week before the event, along with a collection of fun cocktail glass charms that have either a Christmas or Hanukkah theme. Be sure to include a personal note letting your hosts know you're "charmed" to be invited to the event.
Get Fresh!
The fresh smell of evergreen when you arrive at someone's home is always a favorite holiday treat, so why not send several decorative wreaths to the party house a day or two before the event.
DAY-OF-PARTY GIFTS
Pamper Me
We all know how stressful party planning and hosting can be, so here's a unique hostess gift idea that will be TOTALLY unexpected. Purchase a certificate for a spa treatment, couple it with a great terry cloth robe, and include a note that says something like, "You pampered us, now let us pamper you! Thanks for the wonderful party." Guaranteed you'll be the favorite guest!!
Lunch Is On Me
If you get an invitation to a holiday luncheon, purchase a set of fun holiday plates as well as a gift certificate from a favorite lunch spot. Include a note that reads something like, "Today lunch is on you . . . next time it's on me. Thanks for the treat and enjoy yours!"
Favorite Bud
Another personalized hostess gift idea is to buy a special vase you know your friend will like (instead of an off-the-shelf vase from a florist). You can then take the vase to your florist and have them make an arrangement of your friend's favorite flowers. Your note can read something like, "So glad I get to spend the holiday season with my favorite 'bud!'"
